What’s Happening Now:

We are currently working on two applications; one for the Multi-Family site (shown below) to amend the land use for multi-family medium density (R-MD), and the other is to amend the Stage 2 Neighbourhood Plan that was approved in 2015.

Both applications are part of our efforts to ensure the plan for the community reflects the needs of both current and future residents.

A. Residential Multi-Family Land Use Amendment (Application SNS2024-014)

  • Based on feedback we received from residents of Cochrane, we’re proposing medium-density homes with a landscaped buffer and public pathway to maintain privacy and separation from established communities.

  • This amended application was presented at the Ranchehouse to the Committee of the Whole on April 22, 2025, and First Reading to Council on April 28, 2025.

  • The Public Hearing was held on May 12, 2025. Thank you to all residents who participated.

  • For details about our updated application, visit the Multi-Family project page.

B. Stage 2 / River Park - Neighbourhood Plan Amendment (Application SNS2025-002 and SNS2025-003)

  • This application proposes additional pedestrian and cycling connectivity, minor adjustments to the blocks to work better with the topography, and a new residential area in the Lower Bench.

  • The vision for this proposed residential area is a low-density parcel with estate lots and several amenities that will benefit all Cochrane residents including a regional park, playground structures, and a pathway network that will connect to the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park via a future bridge over the Bow River.

  • Our Open House occurred on April 12, 2025 at the SLS Centre.

Both applications are part of our efforts to ensure the plan for the community reflects the needs of both current and future residents.

We know trust is earned, not given. That’s why we’re committed to listening, adapting, and building something that reflects what matters most to the residents of Cochrane: protecting natural spaces, creating safe and welcoming streets, and offering amenities that serve real community needs—from much needed housing options, to pathways, open spaces and parks.
